Source: adapted from a friend’s recipe

Serves: 4 – 6



  • 1 litre of whole milk
  • 200 gr of rice (1 cup)
  • 125 gr of sugar
  • 1 lemon peel
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Cinnamon powder


  • Boil water in a pot and add the rice. Leave for 8 mins, turn off and drain it.
  • Pour milk in a pan and turn heat to medium. Add sugar, lemon peel and cinnamon sticks and stir every 5 mins until it boils.
  • Add rice, turn heat to low and keep smoothly stirring for 20-25 mins. Turn off and pour it into a flat dish or platter. Take off the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks. Let it settle and cool it down. Dust cinnamon powder when it is cool.
