Ingredients

  • ½ cup basmati rice
  • 1½ cups water
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1½ Tbsp. golden sugar
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Wash rice until water runs clear
  • Place rice, water, turmeric, cinnamon stick and butter in a pot and bring to a boil
  • When the water is half evaporated stir in the sugar and raisins
  • With the pot uncovered, continue cooking until entirely dry. Stir gently once in a while
  • Add salt to taste
  • Take rice off the heat, cover with a lid and let it cook further in its own steam until rice is fluffy
