Ingredients (Dough)

  • 500 g plain flour
  • 250 g salted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 packet (11 g) instant yeast
  • 100 g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 250 g half-fat sour cream
  • 1 egg

Ingredients (Topping)

  • 100 g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 egg yolks



  • Mix the flour, yeast and salt in a bowl.
  • Add the butter and create a crumble.
  • Add the grated cheese and mix well.
  • Add the sour cream and the egg, incorporate them fully.
  • Form a ball, leave it rest for an hour in a warm place.
  • Kneed your dough by folding in half, then pushing it down with your hands. Repeat at least 10 times.
  • Roll it out using a rolling pin to 1 cm thick, then cut small circles with a cookie cutter (4cm diameter).
  • Put them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  • Paint them with the egg yolk, put a pinch of cheese on each.
  • Leave it rest for 15 mins. Preheat oven to 200 C (390 F) at beginning of resting time.
  • Bake for 20 mins. If you have a small oven, and you needed to use 3 baking trays, swap the top and bottom trays after 10 minutes.
